P.S. Start thinking about SQUIDSONGS, and about whether March 26th or April 2nd works best as a Squid Kickoff Practice/Party/Barbecue date.

I know at one point we had discussed getting some sweet Squid athletic pants–preferably tear-away, and preferably green with gold stripes down the sides, and maybe even with a number on ‘em somewhere–but suggestions are welcome on any given part of anything).  Of course if there’s enough interest we can get more hoodies.  I seem to recall they were $25-$30 apiece when we ordered seven of ‘em.  I know JANTERNET, SUB A DUB, and CHIP IT were none too happy with the green-on-gold color scheme but that is just how Squid hoodies are so either change yer mind or deal wiff it!  In any case, if there are a handfulla Squids interested in the hoodie circuit (for selves, or friends, or whatever–they do make a great gift!) I can look into that again.

So, if anyone is interested in any article of Squid clothing, let me know:

1) That you’re interested.
2) What you might like (hat, regular jersey, hoodie, bowling shirt, pants, MORE?)
3) Any particulars (size, quantity, name & number to put on there)

…and if there’s a critical mass of Squids wantin’ (unfortunately one-offs are pretty cost- and legwork-prohibitive), we can set about getting some ordered well in advance of the new season starting.

It’d be too bad if it DIDN’T exist, I think we have a lot of people (and might I add, especially Squid-galz) that would excel on a coed recreational basketball league.

Anyway, if y’all (or anyone reading this) has any information about a coed, recreational basketball league in the area (winter/indoor preferred, just so it doesn’t interfere with summer Squidball), comment or contact the Squids in a thrifty manner!

Yes, the Squid’s ten tentacles are each holding a bowling pin, and one of them is sticking through a bowling ball to create the “Q” in SQUIDS.

We are ordering them soon.  They will cost approximately $50-$60.  This amazing shirt-maker-guy Lenny is making them (he made my Pac-Man shirt, for those that have seen that) by hand, so $60 (which includes the print on the back and embroidery) is basically a steal, this shirt will last forever and be unstoppably awesome all the while.  Plus, if you ever have to substitute on (or join!) the Squidbowling team, you’ll want to be styling with the rest of us.  The colors above aren’t exact, and obviously my photo editing skills leave much to be desired, but you get the idea, stop complaining so much, jeez!

Kudos to JANTERNET on the logo, which I kept sending back even though she was working for free in faraway places with better things to do.

1) The Royale, who won last year, don’t get the pleasure of a handily-delivered walloping by the might of the Squids.  However, we do play our friends Way Out Club and dudes-I-forgot-but-I-remember-the-name-and-I’m-sure-they’re-coo’ NW Shaw Drive Byz twice each.  Flesheaters, 6 Figures In The Red, Upstairs Lounge, SKA Rocks, Make Mine A Double, Slap-Nut Magoos, our buddies the Schlafly/Friendly’s Brewers…most of the other Tuesday night classics are in there, basically…

2)…With the exception of our friends the Little Lebowski Urban Achievers.  Dang, I guess one-time Squid THE DUDE couldn’t pull the team together at the last minute after all.  Sorry Duder!

3) Games start at weird times depending on the month and other factors, so pay close attention to the arrival (that is to say, get-there-by) times listed on the Squid calendar on your right.

4) Double-headers on June 9th and July 7th.  Yessss!  Do I detect the return of crazy hat night!?  (The answer is “duh.”)

5) We will definitely have to hit up The HideAway once or twice or as often as possible on the post-game, post-Black-Thorn-for-free-pitcher circuit.  It’s a straight shot down Arsenal, and they serve (a surprisingly decent selection of) food now (and at reasonable prices, too).  Other post-game/post-Black-Thorn hangouts may include, but by no means be limited to: Talayna’s, Stella Blues, Scottish Arms, Tin Can, Maplewood American Legion Hall, Friendly’s, Pancake Productions Headquarters, heck maybe even Newstead Tower Public House if they’re doing something tight and it isn’t too bad of overkill for COOLHAND.  Anyway, think about it.  MMIX is the year to do away with post-game indecision!

6) Practice Saturday at noon, the regular Heman Park spot.  Contact me or basically anySquid if you aren’t sure where to go or whatever.

Mark the dates/times showing in the Squid calendar in yer personal calendars or whatever you do.  I’ll probably E-Mail out about this later this week or otherwise soon, in case you aren’t checkin’ Squid-Ball.com here and there (but you should be.  Maybe not every day, but a handfulla times a month while in-season, maybe).  Schedules for Mondays and Tuesdays are both up now!  Squidball is upon us.

If we can ever actually break into the season, that is.  Wocka wocka!

New Squid Amy (Squidname TBD) will be playing approximately half of all Monday games, as well.  JANTERNET will play approximately the first four Tuesday games.  F.I.L. and PRINCE OF PERSIA have been designated as top-secret special Squid agents whose role will be determined as necessary.  [blank] is gonna be our freakin’ COACH this year so you’d all do best to show her a little respect and get open to the heavy criticism, she is a brutal but smart lady.
