Squid Games In Review: 05/05/09, 05/11/09, & 05/12/09

I waited to post this cuz we only had one game in our first week, so I figured I’d group it in with this week’s incredible victories.  I reckon I’d do best to get this up before tonight’s game.

05/05/09: Hard Squidballing all around in our first game of the season (which should have been our 4th. Rainouts! Whattaya gonna do?). Let’s see, I don’t remember, who wailed, again? Psych, everyone did of course. A solid return to form, feet-to-the-fire, back-in-the-saddle style. SQUIDBONG! did not get utilized as expected/hoped, but much Stag/Busch/whatever was dranken’d so no biggz. PAYNIS took home that hot gameball for might both offensive and defensive (I gave him, and the winners of last week’s gameballs, a break on the review-writing in favor of starting off the season myself, but rest assured this week’s winner(s) will probably be writing the corresponding reviews, or at least be encouraged to/get the opportunity. Post-Squidgame included some not-quite-free Black Thorn beer, then some free pizza and birthday cake with all-around solid times, singin’, and hangin’ on the front patio at The Hideaway.

05/11/09: Not-surprising additional wailing. Squids were here and there, every time you turned around, another Squid, waiting to wail on you, in our (finally!) Forest Park season opener. Forest Park, baby…the original home of the Squids. BEASTOR-X, for valor in the field, behind the plate, and just in general, nailed the gameball. Post-Squidgame got confusing with the Talayna’s claim of “Open 7 Days A Week” (misleading at best, untrue at worst) and the Felix’s early shutdown of table-service, but ended up okay at Seamus McDaniel’s with mountains of nacho-time and buffalo chicken.

05/12/09: And the wailing continues.  Some righteous plays by the usual Squids (all of them, that is) and SWITCHBLADE took home the gameball for rigor on the mound (strike after strike after strike after strike thrown) and vigor in the outfield while he wasn’t pitching.  SQUIDBONG! made its debut but was shortly thereafter SHUT DOWN by the fun police (a feller claiming to be park director–I didn’t see any credentials, did you?), and more importantly, a lack of beer.  I’ll try to bring some more this week.  There were something like 10-15 Squidfans there to cheer us on, so good work Squidfans as well!  Black Thorn for pizzas-a-plenty and our free pitcher.  Later again to the Hideaway for singing and more pizza and hangin’ out big.

Join us one and all tonight and tomorrow for more sweet Squidparty action!
