So [blank] (Karen) has bested the record (previously held by MANNY FRESH [Angie M.] for last fall’s ankle-roll/break/whatever; [blank] held second place with her black eye from earlier this spring/summer), for “Worst Squid Injury Of All Time,” and let me hereby pray to our Lord and Savior that nobody ever bests the new record.

She went up to bat during the first game, I guess for my part I was blinded by the sheer power, because I just kept watching the ball going, going, going, and when it was obvious that it was so far over everyone’s head that it was virtually unattainable, I looked back to first base. [blank] wasn’t there so I looked down the base path…not there either. Not until my eyes reached home plate did I realize what had happened, [blank] was on the ground and people had begun to flock to her. Too much power!! I keep telling her.

It was evident enough that she’d dislocated her right knee (but appeared to pop it back into socket while still lying there? tough!), and her foot was, accordingly, pointing in a pretty unlikely direction. She sat on the bench until the ambulance came and was whisked away (so to speak) to the hospital some time later. KRUKKER (Bill) informs me that, come to find out, her right ankle and left arm are also broken. She’s about to go into surgery on the ankle. Whether surgery on the knee will be necessary is as-yet-undetermined. KRUKKER and I are planning a visit tomorrow (Thursday) after workin’ hours if anyone wants to come with us, and you should.

MONGOOSE (Will) will be providing the Game Review for last night (our last Tuesday games of the fall), from an extra-special sideline perspective, so maybe he will add more at that time, but that’s what I know for now.
