Squid Games In Review: 09/22/08
Pancake Master’s Note: This one is by Phil. I’ve made aside notes in my trademark green throughout and afterwards. All the black text is Phil’s, though!
After a week off The Squids were in tight form up and down the lineup. The Wet Noodles basically just dried up when they saw what the Squids could [and can, and do] do.
The defensive prowess of the Squids was in full effect; some highlights included a great catching/glovework by PANCAKE MASTER and outfield ownage with CA-CAW‘s hard chucks in from Right Center Field. With a strong support from the infield, dueling pitchers SWITCHBLADE and COOLHAND tag-teamed the other team’s offense like Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage. They. Never. Had. A. Chance….Duh. [Seriously, craziest-awesome pitching staff on planet earth. See next entry.]
As for the offense, everybody got their licks in (I think we all batted like 5,000! Yeah thats right) but the standout was “The Homerun w/kickass baserunning thrown in for good measure” by SQUIDS (Brendan), which demolished the other team’s ego like Thor’s hammer cracking a walnut, thoroughly ensuring the Squids as victorious.
With the newly bestowed game ball rules, Autumn [again playing as KEES, but again I think her name is SLUGGER] and myself ruled gameball awards to SQUIDS for his amazing homerun and baserunning skills and to PANCAKE MASTER for his defensive prowess behind the plate; but most notably for his leadership, dedication and ability to continually manage the raw power of the Squids.
Postgame activities were had at Harrys where The Squids enjoyed some cheap eats (mainly chicken wings [and steak sandwiches/french fries]) and beers (is it Who-garden or Hoe-garden?) with thanks to PANCAKE MASTER’s Squidcash (seriously i think RØB is turning into Frank Abagnale, Jr. [Squids won that fair and square during the summer season, though!]) and proceeded to win some sweet pom-poms at Tenacious Trivia. [We didn't show up 'til Round 3 and still took 3rd place, boo-yah. Also of note: it was KEES's first time hosting Tenacious Trivia and he did awesomely.]

Next Monday, post-game activity (by Squids from both nights of play) is encouraged at CBGB on south Grand (three-dollar 32-ouncers of Miller High Life!). Some Squids might (will) be making some noise in front of a crowd of people there around the time our games end.

I am on a quest to bat .1000 this Fall season. I hope I can at least keep the dream alive thru two games…
