Squid Games In Review: 06/23/08 & 06/24/08

Monday! It felt sorta blah and we had a few last-second no-shows but we took the field and trounced the Boathouse Gang super-hard. Some unpredictably wild hits to right field kept MONICA on her toes and earned her one game ball for solid hustle through and through, and in his fifteen seconds of play in the second game, CHUNSLIN managed to trip over first base and do some disabled-list-injury-style damage to his ankle, earning him the other. New Squidmix made its debut to much excitement and enjoyment. Squids later womped on some cheaters at Harry’s Trivia, so good jarb Squidz.

Tuesday! Rocked hard (natch) at the ToGro. SQUIDBONG! (which I could never again indicate in print without using all of bold, italics, and an exclamation point) made its own debut that night (and Squidsongs old and new alike continued to make their new-Squidmix debut along with the Tom Jones/Neil Diamond mix made especially for last night by SUB A DUB) and of course Squids killed some nameless team o’ turkeys (our buddies Make Mine A Double from years past at both ToGro and FoPa). SWITCHBLADE was definitely hangin’ tough there Squid-style. KEES made basically every play for like five innings straight, from both Left Center and Shortstop, and was awarded the gameball accordingly. He relinquished it to JANTERNET for her championship SQUIDBONG! purchase, for which you should all give her a few bucks. Might I add that even though the ump was doing my job as catcher most of the night, COOLHAND and I had a pretty hot play at the plate? (The answer is “yes, indeed, I might add that,” because it’s my game review.) ANNIECUPCAKE also did not cease to amaze the umpire (and everyone) with some rocket-throws in, and the DONRUSS–BEASTOR-X SS-1B combo nailed many a runner in its own right. Afterwards we hit Black Thorn pretty hard, and later at Talayna’s there was much singing and even guest Squid appearances by Brendan (in full Squids regalia–SQUIDS, #08 jersey and hat–courtesy of [blank]‘s win of the silent auction from the Squidvia Night back in January) and D. MIKE.

I’m certain that pictures and/or videos of last night’s hilarity/awesomenity are surely forthcoming. Here’s the order in which you contacted me yesterday (in case anyone was still curious, following last night’s conversation at Black Thorn): BEASTOR-X; JANTERNET; KEES; ANNIECUPCAKE; SUB A DUB; JOSECANYOUSING?; [blank]; MANNY FRESH; DONRUSS. I will not leave you hanging, Squids. If you show up to a canceled game, chances are great that I will either be there or have been there, myself. Another topic of conversation I remember from last night was PEHDTSCKJMBA for those interested.

Squidbowl is canceled tonight, so instead, tonight at 8:30PM, you (and everyone you know) oughter be here, or meet at Pancake Productions Headquarters by 8:15PM to carpool/caravan. That’s all I got for now!

I don’t know what the conversation was at Black Thorn, but I would like to point out that my email merely said: “Why does it always rain on Tuesdays?” to express my sadness that a huge thunderstorm had busted out in the Chesterfield Valley on Squidball Tuesday YET AGAIN!

Duly remembered/noted. I’m not tryin’ to cause no consternation here, I’m just tryin’ to get a few laughs outta people. Some expressed disdain at the E-Mail I sent out shortly before leaving work yesterday, and I wanted to make sure people know I really think it’s humorous more than anything that so many concerned Squids contacted me as if I might not tell them whether the game was off.
